Worldwide Internet Music
Resources This site is maintained by the William & Gayle Cook Music Library at
Indiana University. This site offers a wide variety of links to rock, popular, classical
and jazz artists. It has an exceptionally diverse and extensive listing of artist specific

Music News Wire: This site bills itself as
"the ultimate guide to music news on the Net." It has sections on Top New
stories, General News, Industry New, Label News, and more. They describe themselves thus:
Almost every major music company and publication is represented online, along with many
wonderful web-only music information sites. So much to experience, so little time. The
fact that internet bandwidth is clogged up doesn't help your quest for information either.
Hence, the MusicNewswire. Daily, we gather the top news stories from all the best music
sites on the web and neatly display them for your enjoyment. Pick a story that interests
you and link directly to that site to read it." They also list, with links, over 50
of their music news sources. They also have a link to CD
Universe, an on-line music store which claims a selection of over 250,000 titles for
sale in all areas of music. For news on music on TV you might check out RockOnTV their name is somewhat misleading since
they claim to cover all music related TV airings.

ROCK, ROCK & ROLL, and Pop Music
Note: Given the nature of the music industry and the pop music sub-culture none of
these sites can be presumed to be kid friendly or age appropriate for those under 18.
Internet Underground Music Archive (IUMA)(pronounced
I-yoo-MAH) This group claims to predate the Web --old, old, old. They say "Before
the Web made the cover of Popular Mechanics, a few savvy undergraduates from the University of
California, Santa Cruz, and volunteers from the burgeoning Santa Cruz geek community,
created the Internet Underground Music Archive. Their mission was superbly simple, to
create the net's first free high-fidelity music archive. These visionaries approached this
new level playing field for musicians as a technical adventure. During secret gatherings
in these youth's bedrooms, IUMA 1.0 was developed, a site that grew to represent more than
800 unsigned, independent bands on-line. IUMA 1.0 enabled music lovers to connect with
artists, buy CDs and tapes directly from artists and to share comments about bands with
the public. Like kids on a free hot dog picnic, national and international media began
eating up the IUMA darlings, writing rave reviews in the press. Since then, IUMA has
expanded its role while continuing to bring more independent musicians on-line. Now
offering unique Internet consulting to the music industry, IUMA continues to bring the
finest music content direct to you. In IUMA 2.0 you will find a number of new and improved
features, plus plenty of swank graphics." Their offerings include on-line artists
(over 500), multimedia projects, sound and audio clips, links to a number of independent
labels (from 3 Foot Records, Alternet Sonic Reality and Blue Goat to Sin Club, Warrior,
and Zographia), and much more.

ROCK ON TV Another site that claims to be
"ultimate," it certainly looks pretty good. Shows a guide to upcoming rock
events on TV. Includes a channel guide They describe themselves as follows:
"RockOnTV, the ultimate guide to music on television, attempts to keep track of
television shows that may be of interest to fans of popular music. The original focus of
RockOnTV was live rock music, but we have expanded the listings to include any and all
music-related shows that we think may be of interest. No other resource comes close.
Please be advised that the term, Rock, is used VERY loosely. This site contains listings
that cover every single musical genre. We do not discriminate." Sounds like they need
a name change to us, check it out. They try to have the coming week's schedule on-line by
late Sunday.
