PRIDE | WRATH | ENVY | LUST | GLUTTONY | AVARICE | SLOTH

Welcome to the GazetteOfTheARTS.com  Seven Deadly Sins page, early 21st century style. Rest assured that somewhere, in someone's galaxy of proscribed activities, thoughts, or desires, everything you say, do, think, or dream could find a home on this page. We've been a bit more selective. (pride). Enjoy! (lust, gluttony, avarice). Don't be offended by our choices. (wrath). Take the time to check some of these out (sloth). Of course, send us feedback if your favorites are not included (envy).

PRIDE

Swoon: Dating, Mating, Relating With such sections as "Hot Personal," "Horoscopes," "Forum du Jour" topic "are you allowed to sleep with your sweetie in your parent's house;" and a "Friendship" section with "answers to vexing questions on edible underwear this site leaves few main-stream avenues of hedonism and narcissism un-navigated. We could have put this link under any sin section on this page. The fact that this site is the home page link to GQ, Details, Glamour, and Mademoiselle, is just frosting on the hedonistic cake. We are soooo glad that the boomers cleared the cultural decks, so to speak, for the self concerned so that we folks in the 00's could go straight for the narcissistic jugular. Enjoy.

ENVY

Who's Doin' Who? Actually it should be "Whom." But, for dirt on celebrities, this section of the Conde Nast SWOON home page is a good start, and correct grammar is not the be-all-and-end-all of this site.

THE SLEAZE  theSLEAZE.com is home to the former CyberSleaze, a gossip column for the music and entertainment industries. Not for the faint of heart nor young (below 18) in years.

Francis Bacon, selected essays. including Envy. He may not have written Hamlet, but he sure could crank out a mean essay. "A man that hath no virtue in himself, ever envieth virtue in others. For men's minds, will either feed upon their own good, or upon others' evil; and who wanteth the one, will prey upon the other; and whoso is out of hope, to attain to another's virtue, will seek to come at even hand, by depressing another's fortune."

Now, to speak of public envy. There is yet some good in public envy, whereas in private, there is none. For public envy, is as an ostracism, that eclipseth men, when they grow too great. And therefore it is a bridle also to great ones, to keep them within bounds.

HE's NOT DEAD, HE's JUST RESTING! If you're tired of envying people, these are your sites. Two sites dedicated to answering that age old question, "Whatever happened to what's her name?" The Dead People Server gives you chapter and verse on the goings on, or lack of them, of many people you may not have thought of in a long time, or that one that just popped into your head. There are links to 34 related sites that focus on the dearly or nearly departed.

LUST -- THE CARNAL VARIETY

These links are more aimed at glorification of pulchritude than at invoking Eros. In the charming vernacular of early 21st century they might be characterized as T&A, in a more circumspect time they would have probably bee classified as "cheese cake." As far as we know, none of them would cause an X, probably not even an R, rating if shown in a film, but those of you who wish to can always hope, we might have missed something.

AVARICE

The National Enquirer No site purporting to speak on the topic of American culture, and dealing with satire, can hold its head up without referencing this icon of the supermarket shopping lanes. It is delightfully irreverent and tacky while being fascinating at the same time. Sort of lets you know what a moth near a flame feels like. Go ahead, you know you're going to click that link. How can you resist? The week we put this link up the tabloid cover, seen briefly when you log on, had the headline "Fat Thighs: How the Stars Fight 'Em and Hide 'Em" with a typically flattering photograph of actress/Model Cindy Crawford in a bathing suit, with -- can you guess? Who knows what wonders are to behold this week?
